Easy Rice Water Treatment for Hair

Rice water has a long history of being used to make hair shinier, stronger and faster growing. You can make it easily, either by soaking rice in water for about an hour and then keeping the starchy liquid (go ahead and cook your rice afterwards), by cooking rice with 2-3 cups of extra water and then pouring off the extra after cooking, or by fermenting boiled or soaked rice water on the counter with a cloth lid for 24-48 hours or until it smells slightly tangy.

You can add a few drops of essential oils if you like, to give it a gentle smell. Rosemary is especially nice because it is proven to help hair grow faster. Or if you do the cooked method, you can add a tablespoon of culinary herbs like rosemary.

You can store your rice water in a jar in the bathroom for 3-4 days or the fridge for about a week.

To use: Wash and condition your hair as usual, and then pour the rice water onto it to thoroughly soak it (the amount needed will vary by hair length). Leave on for 5-15 minutes and then rinse out
