Winter

Wild Kids Magazine for January 2026

Happy 2026!

Here is the January 2026 issue of Wild Kids Magazine.

In this month’s issue, we have a winter foraging BINGO, animal track Sudoku pages (print them on card stock if you’d like to reuse them), a color-in page for recording sky colors this year, a tracking page if you like to keep track of your family’s hours outside, a daily nature photo challenge for January, ways to learn and play in nature, information on poisonous monkshood and yew, and all the usual nature poetry, nature study pages, a weather tree, phenology page and more.

As you know, every year in Wild Kids Magazine, we include botanical coloring pages and have a general theme for a different type of wild plant or fungus that we’ll pay special attention to over that year.  The first year, we featured wild edible plants like wild asparagus and elderberries. The second year, we featured herbs like horsetail and yarrow. The third year, we featured flowers like poppies and roses. The fourth year was wild mushrooms like oyster mushrooms and lion’s mane. The fifth year was invasive plants like kudzu and garlic mustard. Last year, the sixth year, it was helpful trees like birch and willow.

This year, our focus will be on dangerous plants.  We’ll learn about two new dangerous plants each month, including how to recognize them, cool facts about them, and why we need to avoid them.  The first two plants are in this issue — monkshood and yew.

This month’s issue is 24 pages. As always, it’s in PDF form so you can read it online, send it to your Kindle, or print it out.

And as always, the magazine is 100% ad-free and absolutely free for personal use.

Please feel free to share the link to the magazine with anyone who might benefit.

Have a wild and wonderful month!
