{"id":899,"date":"2010-06-20T06:35:42","date_gmt":"2010-06-20T06:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=899"},"modified":"2010-06-20T06:35:42","modified_gmt":"2010-06-20T06:35:42","slug":"kids-only-whats-your-favorite-chapter-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/06\/20\/kids-only-whats-your-favorite-chapter-book\/","title":{"rendered":"Kids Only:  What&#8217;s Your Favorite Chapter Book?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><strong>I heard from the author of the Fuse 8 blog yesterday about why she had not included all of the children&#8217;s votes for the 100 favorite children&#8217;s book list.\u00a0 She wrote:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>Well, just to justify the tampering, had I allowed every child vote to count (and initially I did) you would have seen numbers 1-50 consist entirely of Fablehaven, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, iCarly, and Rainbow Fairy sequels and series. In the future, I\u2019ll have a better method for handling child votes. As it was, any child that sent me a vote individually counted. If they were in classes, however, then for each of their votes, two adults also had to vote. Not perfect, but amenable.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><strong>I responded:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>So if you hadn\u2019t tinkered, then the \u201cwrong\u201d books would have been chosen as favorites? Favorites are favorites! Perhaps what we need, then, is two lists.
