{"id":798,"date":"2010-05-17T03:20:52","date_gmt":"2010-05-17T03:20:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=798"},"modified":"2010-05-17T03:20:52","modified_gmt":"2010-05-17T03:20:52","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-51","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/17\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-51\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Hello from Nebraska!\u00a0 We&#8217;re down visiting magical mama Tiffany and her gang again.\u00a0 I&#8217;m so sorry to be so scarce lately but here&#8217;s a few ways to make a bit of magic for the new week&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">1.\u00a0 Get a box of chalk pastels (cheap ones are $2 or $3 at arts and crafts stores) and draw on the sidewalk with the kids with those.\u00a0 The colors are so much more vibrant and fun than with regular sidewalk chalk!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">2.\u00a0 Go visit a rock shop!\u00a0 These fabulous places are educational and so full of treaures, often for next to nothing.\u00a0 Look at agates, geodes, petrified wood, quartz, etc. and find out what&#8217;s in your area to find on your own too.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\">3.\u00a0 Take the afternoon to stroll a historic downtown district, either of your own city or a city you haven&#8217;t explored.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">4.\u00a0 Go to the Farmers&#8217; Market.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a lot more than fresh produce at most of them these days!\u00a0 The Lincoln one that we explored had everything from a children&#8217;s musician to Korean egg rolls to handmade toys to garden plants.\u00a0 You support local families, get out in the sunshine and find wonderful treats!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">5.\u00a0 Get out the fondue pot or borrow one from a friend, and make fondue with the kids.\u00a0 Dip bread cubes, strawberries, cubes of pound cake, etc. in delicious sauces.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">6.\u00a0 Get an assortment of flavored (real) chocolate and do a taste test!\u00a0 Rate each one secretly and see which one is the winner!\u00a0 (Note: the chili lime chocolate that we tested was amazingly unpopular and HOT!\u00a0 It did get points for originality from me though!)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\">7.\u00a0 Get clippings from plants from lots of loved ones, root them in water and start new plants in sweet little hand-painted pots.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\">8.\u00a0 Go to a state or national park so the kids can take part in their ranger program and earn badges and such. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\">9.\u00a0 Stay up way past bedtime playing games and being silly.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\">10.\u00a0 Sing in the rain.\u00a0 And dance.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><em>Have a magical week!\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget to take care of you!<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello from Nebraska!\u00a0 We&#8217;re down visiting magical mama Tiffany and her gang again.\u00a0 I&#8217;m so sorry to be so scarce lately but here&#8217;s a few ways to make a bit of magic for the new week&#8230;
