{"id":793,"date":"2010-05-13T06:25:15","date_gmt":"2010-05-13T06:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=793"},"modified":"2010-05-13T06:25:15","modified_gmt":"2010-05-13T06:25:15","slug":"youre-a-fabulous-mother","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/13\/youre-a-fabulous-mother\/","title":{"rendered":"You&#8217;re a Fabulous Mother"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4001\/4597239582_cc0389c9df.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">(photo by Victoria Bayer)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">I keep hearing from mothers this week about how stressed they are and what terrible mothers they think they are.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">What?\u00a0 Oh pah.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">I&#8217;m\u00a0 here to tell you to stop it.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">You rock.\u00a0 You&#8217;re a fabulous mother. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">How do I know this?\u00a0 Well, first off because you&#8217;re beating yourself up and only people who <em>care<\/em> feel guilt, which means you&#8217;re a caring mother.\u00a0 So that right there tells me a lot about you.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Second of all, you&#8217;re the sort of mother who visits blogs about making lives magical for her children.\u00a0 That sort of says a lot about you too!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Third of all, most mothers are more fabulous than they give themselves credit for.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a mother thing.\u00a0 We also tend to think other mothers are exponentially better than we\u00a0 are at absolutely everything.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">And fourth of all, no matter what sort of beastly mother you think you are, I&#8217;m willing to bet that your child still thinks you&#8217;re the best mom in the world.\u00a0 Even if said child won&#8217;t admit it.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">You&#8217;re a fabulous mother.\u00a0 You&#8217;re loving.\u00a0 You care.\u00a0 You\u00a0 have things you rock at.\u00a0 Many of them.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Do you sometimes screw up?\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 So do I.\u00a0 Do you sometimes yell or throw shoes at the wall?\u00a0 Maybe.\u00a0 I have.\u00a0 Do you have times when you lose it a lot and feel like a troll?\u00a0 It happens.\u00a0 But it gets better.\u00a0 And you&#8217;re still a fabulous mother.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Here&#8217;s the wonderful thing about being a mother.\u00a0 Every second is a fresh start.\u00a0 If you screw up you can <em>not<\/em> screw up the next minute and it goes an awfully long way.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Hug your kids.\u00a0 Say you&#8217;re sorry.\u00a0 Be silly.\u00a0 Let things go.\u00a0 Try again.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all part of the crazy ride of motherhood.\u00a0 None of us is perfect at it.\u00a0 But most of us are far more fabulous than we give ourselves credit for.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">And while you&#8217;ve been reading this, another fresh start has begun.\u00a0 Go do something good.\u00a0 Not just for the kids, but for you too. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Now, go off and be fabulous.\u00a0 You can do it.\u00a0 You do it again and again.\u00a0 You&#8217;re raising people who will make the world a little better, in part because of your mothering. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Thanks for that.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Here&#8217;s hoping today is exponentially better.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#2b2bd3;\">Happy Thursday.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I keep hearing from mothers this week about how stressed they are and what terrible mothers they think they are.
