Ready for some ways to make some magic this week?\u00a0 Here ya go……<\/em>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Teach the kids to do the hand jive or the macarena and then do it together to all kinds of music (You-Tube can help if you’re rusty!).<\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Let the kids set up the camera on self timer and take zany pictures of themselves.\u00a0 (Next time, I’m joining in!)
\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Find a big open space and fly kites.<\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Go to an ethnic restaurant you’ve never been to before and try something new together. <\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 Make some of these adorable fridge magnets from felt scraps like Samster Mommy.\u00a0 All you need to do is cut them out and sew them with a blanket stitch, and the magnets are inside so there’s no risk of them being swallowed.\u00a0 And they’re darling!\u00a0 Pics and descriptions are here<\/a> and a pattern is here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0 Ask on Freecycle for old prom dresses for dress-up and material to make into nifty new play outfits (and superhero capes).<\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

6.\u00a0 Go hunting rainbows.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

7.\u00a0 Start researching your family tree together.\u00a0 My husband and kids found out that they’re related to Giles Corey, the only man to be killed in the Salem Witch Trials, among other interesting discoveries.\u00a0 It makes history and geography come to life when you realize you’re actually connected to those people and places you’ve studied about in school — plus it’s just plain fascinating.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

8.\u00a0 Have everybody in the family write questions on colorful slips of paper and put them in a bowl — from thought provoking (What historical character would you like to have lunch with?) to personal (What have you done lately that you’re proud of?) to silly (If you were a candy bar, what would you be called?).\u00a0 At dinner, take turns pulling out papers and answering the questions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

9.\u00a0 Head to a different branch of the library than you usually do and check out a pile of fabulous books (and DVD’s, computer CD’s, music, shaped cake pans, artwork, rainy day kits or anything else that particular branch carries!).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

10.\u00a0 Grab a blanket, a picnic basket full of quick munchies and your child, and head out someplace peaceful to just sit and talk.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
