{"id":728,"date":"2010-04-19T05:42:29","date_gmt":"2010-04-19T05:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=728"},"modified":"2010-04-19T05:42:29","modified_gmt":"2010-04-19T05:42:29","slug":"ten-ways-to-make-today-magical-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/19\/ten-ways-to-make-today-magical-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Ten Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday!\u00a0 It&#8217;s that time of the week again.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s another list of things to do with your kiddos to make some memories.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Go on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.magicalchildhood.com\/articles\/treasurehunt.htm\">neighborhood treasure hunt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2792\/4533981036_5141d72b96.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0Wake up an hour early and go for a breakfast picnic together before work and school.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t have to be anyplace fancy&#8211; up on the roof, in the stairwell, in the back yard or any place different.<span style=\"font-family:Arial;\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 Get out the hula hoops and see how long you can each keep them going.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t believe how much harder it is for me now than when I was a kid!\u00a0 It&#8217;s silly fun and you get a good workout too.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 Give your children corners of the yard for their own gardens.\u00a0 They can plant easy seeds or purchased plants or even transplant plants from other parts of the yard.\u00a0 Even weeds can be treasured in a child&#8217;s garden!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4061\/4533379049_515b7fd875.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 Make up customized CD&#8217;s with songs with your children&#8217;s names in the titles, sentimental songs from when they were little and other sweet memories.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0 Make up some task treasures. Paint or write numbers on small round rocks or dragon&#8217;s tears.\u00a0 Write up a list of little tasks that correspond to each number.\u00a0 They can be educational (spell your name, say the 4 times tables), home related (sweep the stairs, wipe the counter), family related (tell me something good that happened today, say something nice about another family member) or silly (cluck like a chicken, spin in circles till you fall down).\u00a0 Add one special one for a treat your kids will really covet (an hour of doing anything you want with mom or dad, movie night, etc.).\u00a0 Kids can take turns drawing treasures and completing the assignments, and can do as many as they like to try to nab the prize one.\u00a0 My kids love even the chores, just because of the novelty of picking them out of a jar.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Change the master list as often as you like.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0 Have a tea party.\u00a0 Invite dolls and teddy bears if the kiddos like.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget to wear hats!<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0 Leave your child a list of things you love about her on her pillow.<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0 Go puddle stomping.\u00a0 No puddles?\u00a0 Hose down something that needs some spring cleaning and create your own.<\/p>\n<p>10.
