{"id":680,"date":"2010-04-05T13:26:39","date_gmt":"2010-04-05T13:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=680"},"modified":"2010-04-05T13:26:39","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T13:26:39","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-46","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/05\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-46\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>We&#8217;re still in Nebraska but I thought I would pop in with a few ways to add some whimsy to life this week.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s some things we&#8217;ve been up to and such to add a bit of magic to life this week&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">1. If you have leftover plastic eggs, use them for a bit of fun.\u00a0 Put different objects in them and challenge the kids to rattle them and guess what&#8217;s inside.\u00a0 Hide them around the house with little tasks written in each one (cluck like a chicken, jump 5 times, spell your name backwards&#8230;).\u00a0 You can even use them for healthy snacks, filled with grape halves, cheese cubes, cereal o&#8217;s and so on.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>2.\u00a0 Have lunch in a tree.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2748\/4474938757_840f62d4e9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">3.\u00a0 Go hiking.\u00a0 Preferably in some spot you&#8217;ve never explored before.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#993300;\">4.\u00a0 Play mad libs with a favorite picture book.\u00a0 Have your child list a bunch of nouns, verbs, animals, etc. and every time you come to one in the story, read the next word on the list instead.\u00a0 It leads to silly fun and sneaks in a bit of grammar!<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\">5.\u00a0 Make boats out of walnut shells, bark or some other natural materials and sail them down a stream, a ditch or even a homemade puddle in the back yard.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">6.\u00a0 Have egg and spoon races.\u00a0 Divide the family into two groups and have each team relay race with an egg balanced on a spoon.\u00a0 We set up a small course in the back yard and had each racer run across the yard, circle a tree and run back to the\u00a0 next person.\u00a0 Little ones were allowed to hold their eggs, and we kept running long after everybody had run once.\u00a0 It was loads of fun, though we did need an extra egg or two!<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">7.\u00a0 In a similar vein, have an egg toss.\u00a0 We stood in a circle and gently tossed the egg to the next person.\u00a0 Once we&#8217;d gone all the way around the circle, we took one step back to make it\u00a0 harder.\u00a0 We kept going until Magical Mama Tiffany leaped for a high fastball and became unfortunately goo-covered.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\">8.\u00a0 Serve lunch on a stick.\u00a0 Nearly anything can become a kabob!<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>9.\u00a0 Have a &#8220;paint everything in sight&#8221; day.\u00a0 Set out beat up old chairs, cement pavers, rocks, anything and let the kids do their artistic magic.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4050\/4471649905_a955044e99.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>10.
