{"id":638,"date":"2010-03-23T06:27:31","date_gmt":"2010-03-23T06:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=638"},"modified":"2010-03-23T06:27:31","modified_gmt":"2010-03-23T06:27:31","slug":"making-grapevine-wreaths-and-crowns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/03\/23\/making-grapevine-wreaths-and-crowns\/","title":{"rendered":"Making Grapevine Wreaths and Crowns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/grapevine.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2183\" alt=\"grapevine\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/grapevine.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><strong>The other day, I mentioned that Victoria has been making grapevine crowns and wreaths and that she wants to leave some as decorations along a state park path.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\">Someone asked how to make the wreaths so here&#8217;s the super simple instructions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\">Sorry I don&#8217;t have step by step pictures, but these are pictures I just happened to take on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/grapevine2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2182\" alt=\"grapevine2\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/grapevine2.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color:#808000;\">Cut some lengths of any long vine or thin, supple branches.\u00a0 The ones we used for the wreaths above were dogwood (for the crown) and Virginia Creeper vine (for the mini wreath or bracelet).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#808000;\">Bend them into a circle shape, starting at one end, of whatever size you want.\u00a0 As you bend, weave the ends around and loop them a few times to keep them together.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#808000;\">Tuck the end into the wreath.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#808000;\"><em>TIP:\u00a0 Make the wreaths right away after you cut the vines or branches, or they&#8217;ll dry out and become too brittle to weave easily.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><strong>It&#8217;s really simple!\u00a0<\/strong> I literally gave Victoria 10 seconds of instructions and a pair of shears and she was at it.\u00a0 Today Annalee joined in the fun and taught herself in the back yard, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2754\/4455931295_08d694fe3e.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\">Have fun!\u00a0 Happy Tuesday!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The other day, I mentioned that Victoria has been making grapevine crowns and wreaths and that she wants to leave some as decorations along a state park path.\u00a0 Someone asked how to make the wreaths so here&#8217;s the super simple instructions.
