{"id":62,"date":"2009-04-16T09:02:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-16T09:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/2009\/04\/16\/more-seed-fun\/"},"modified":"2009-04-16T09:02:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-16T09:02:00","slug":"more-seed-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2009\/04\/16\/more-seed-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"More Seed Fun!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><span style=\"color:rgb(255,153,204);\"><strong>Hello magical you!&nbsp; I thought you might like some more seed ideas.&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.preschooleducation.com\/scgarden.shtml\">This site<\/a> has lots of fun ones.&nbsp; Some are pretty conventional (like the bean and the wet paper towel in the bag) but some were new to me.&nbsp; I like the milk carton with the window and the bird seed sponge especially.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/whatscookingamerica.net\/EdibleFlowers\/EdibleFlowersMain.htm\">Here&#8217;s<\/a> a list of edible flowers, along with lots of safety information.&nbsp; We love nasturtiums here but the flowers are peppery and best suited for things like salads.&nbsp; We have roses for sweeter recipes but I didn&#8217;t realize how many other flowers were edible.&nbsp; This year I&#8217;d like to start a few new plants with edible flowers for recipes like this one&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:larger;\"><font face=\"Arial\"><font color=\"#8000ff\">WILDFLOWER POUND CAKE<\/font> <\/font><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:larger;\"><font face=\"Arial\"><font color=\"#8000ff\">1 cup butter<\/font> <br \/><font color=\"#8000ff\">1 1\/2 cup flour<\/font> <br \/><font color=\"#8000ff\">1-tsp. vanilla or lemon extract<\/font> <br \/><font color=\"#8000ff\">5 eggs, separated<\/font> <br \/><font color=\"#8000ff\">1 1\/2 cup powdered sugar<\/font> <br \/><font color=\"#8000ff\">1 tsp. baking powder<\/font> <br \/><font color=\"#8000ff\">1 cup assorted washed edible flower petals, small pieces<\/font> <\/font><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:larger;\"><font face=\"Arial\"><font color=\"#8000ff\">Cream the butter. Sift flour and add gradually to butter. Beat the egg yolks until thick and lemon<\/font> <br \/><font color=\"#8000ff\">colored, add sugar gradually. Combine mixtures. Beat egg whites until stiff and add to mixture. Sift baking powder over mixture, beat thoroughly. Fold in fresh flower pieces.
