{"id":459,"date":"2010-02-15T06:16:57","date_gmt":"2010-02-15T06:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=459"},"modified":"2010-02-15T06:16:57","modified_gmt":"2010-02-15T06:16:57","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-39","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/02\/15\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-39\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Happy Monday!\u00a0 I hope you had a wonderful Valentine&#8217;s Day.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a fun ways to make some magical memories with the kiddos this week&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">Make a <a href=\"http:\/\/momandkiddo.blogspot.com\/2010\/02\/friday-do-over-catapult.html\">catapult<\/a> and let your little one launch pom poms and soft balls across the room.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\">Have dictionary day.\u00a0 Each person gets to randomly open the dictionary and put a finger on a random word without looking at it.\u00a0 Whatever word is picked becomes the theme for the next hour.\u00a0 Whatever the word is, you can act it out, have snacks related to it, try to work it into a poem, you name it.\u00a0 Each person is allowed a few do-overs in cases of tough or boring words.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">Go buy some discounted heart-shaped boxes of candy, eat the chocolates and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.magicalchildhood.com\/crafts\/heartbox.htm\">do crafts and activities with the boxes<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\">If you&#8217;ve had a bunch of snow, go for a walk together to find one of those snow mountains that snow plow make when they push the snow to the end of the block.\u00a0 Play king of the mountain and climb, slide and explore it together.\u00a0 Then go home and have hot cocoa.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>Give the kids straws to make their own construction (or <a href=\"http:\/\/piseco.homeschooljournal.net\/2009\/11\/03\/our-constrawction-zone\/\">conSTRAWction<\/a>) set creations.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>For another angle, find a deck of cards that&#8217;s a few cards short and cut it to make a <a href=\"http:\/\/todayisfun.com\/blog\/readmore\/593\/House-of-cards\/DIY-game-and-building-kit\">card construction set<\/a>.\u00a0 This is a much easier way to make a house of cards than the traditional way, though older kids can try their hands at that type too!<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\"><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">Let your daughter try on your wedding dress, just to imagine together.\u00a0 Take pictures.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><strong>Make <a href=\"http:\/\/chasingcheerios.blogspot.com\/2010\/02\/no-sew-felt-fortune-cookies.html\">no-sew felt fortune cookies<\/a> and slip fun fortunes inside for the kids to discover.\u00a0 Or involve the kids in making up silly fortunes and make them to give to friends.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>Make snow ice cream.\u00a0 Mix together 1\/2 cup of whipping cream or cream of choice, 1 TBS sugar and 2-3 drops vanilla.  Slowly stir in 1-3 cups of clean snow, a little at a time, till it\u2019s the right consistency.  You can adjust ingredients to suit your taste and experiment with flavors like cinnamon, butterscotch, lemon extract and eggnog.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>Make a card table fort.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t have to be fancy like the one I posted the other day.\u00a0 A sheet and a lantern can make for a magical hideaway.\u00a0 Climb in and join in the fun.\u00a0 Even better, bring snacks!<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#000000;\">And with that, I&#8217;m off to snuggle with my sweetie and have some ice cream.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Have a magical week!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday!\u00a0 I hope you had a wonderful Valentine&#8217;s Day.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a fun ways to make some magical memories with the kiddos this week&#8230; Make a catapult and let your little one launch pom poms and soft balls across the room.
