{"id":345,"date":"2010-01-21T01:04:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-21T01:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/2010\/01\/21\/squirt-painting-2\/"},"modified":"2010-01-21T01:04:00","modified_gmt":"2010-01-21T01:04:00","slug":"squirt-painting-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/21\/squirt-painting-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Squirt Painting!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#339966;font-size:medium;\"><strong>Here&#8217;s a fun craft using stuff you probably already have in your cupboards.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\">You need:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\">~ flour<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#339966;\">~ water<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#339966;\">~ food coloring<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#339966;\">~ 2 or more squirt bottles such as bottles from syrup, glue, ketchup or mustard <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#339966;\">~ paper<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#339966;\">~ bowl and spoon<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#339966;font-size:medium;\"><strong>~ <\/strong>disposable cardboard box (optional)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\">1.\u00a0 Mix some flour with enough water to make a thick paint-like consistency.\u00a0 Mix in a few drops of food coloring and pour it into a squirt bottle.\u00a0 Repeat for as many colors as you&#8217;d like.\u00a0 We do three.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\">2.\u00a0 Place a piece of paper at the bottom of your cardboard box.\u00a0 The box will keep the mess contained.\u00a0 If you like, you can cut off the flaps or cut down the size to make it work best.\u00a0 Or you can skip this step and do the craft outside or over a safe surface.\u00a0 Remember that food coloring can stain, so if this is a problem you may want to tint the flour\/water with washable paint instead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\">3.\u00a0 Now let your kiddos drizzle, draw and squirt to their heart&#8217;s content!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\">We consider this kind of art &#8220;camera art&#8221;&#8211; meaning it is too messy to keep forever so we take a picture of each creation and drop the finished creations right into a bag to dispose of. We save out one or two of the best to display all day, though.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.magicalchildhood.com\/crafts\/PIC00065.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" \/>\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.magicalchildhood.com\/crafts\/PIC00062.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.magicalchildhood.com\/crafts\/PIC00062.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#339966;\">ALTERNATE CRAFT:<br \/>\nAnother option that&#8217;s great for little ones is to do the craft in a baking dish and squirt right into the dish.\u00a0 Kids can draw with their fingers in the goop and then you can rinse in the sink and start again.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\">This can even be done straight onto driveways or patios. Toddlers will enjoy it with just flour and water in a single bottle.
