{"id":2405,"date":"2014-08-25T16:46:02","date_gmt":"2014-08-25T16:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=2405"},"modified":"2014-08-25T16:46:02","modified_gmt":"2014-08-25T16:46:02","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-136","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/25\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-136\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/fifidolls.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2406\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/fifidolls.jpg\" alt=\"10 Ways to Make Today Magical\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/fifidolls.jpg 480w, http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/fifidolls-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#126470;\"><strong>Happy Monday!<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#126470;\">Sorry for my long absence.\u00a0 This has been a busy bunch of months for us, with lots of doctor visits and tests for me, along with lots of fun and activities for our whole family.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color:#126470;\">Here are a few ways to make some memories this week&#8230;.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#cc99ff;\"><span style=\"color:#c70cc7;\"><strong>1.\u00a0 Drape some blankets over a clothesline, tree, tent poles or other props in the back yard and make some impromptu forts.\u00a0 <\/strong>Stock the insides with some fun books, games, snacks, a flashlight, whatever, and see what fun the kids dream up to have in their new fun space.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4058\/4694990242_3f7681b205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><strong>2.\u00a0 Waste a box of birthday candles on repeated wishes.\u00a0 <\/strong>You join in too!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#33cccc;\"><strong>3.\u00a0 Make up a batch of homemade playdough (white) and then hide different colors inside. <span style=\"color:#33cccc;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Poke a hole in the middle and add a little bit of food coloring (we like the paste food coloring sold for cake decorating because it&#8217;s so intense and comes in lots of colors).\u00a0 Encourage kids to knead their balls of playdough and watch as they discover there&#8217;s more to it than it first appeared!\u00a0 You can also do color mixing this way (make yellow and add blue to the center of one and red to another, for instance).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 Write something random and silly halfway down the toilet paper roll and then roll it back up again.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#2cb02a;\"><strong> 5.\u00a0 Get together with friends and take wacky photos around town.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4101\/4864066355_8504983f64.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><strong>6.\u00a0 Make a vision board for the new school year together.\u00a0 <\/strong>Gather up a bunch of old magazines, sheets of posterboard and scissors and glue.\u00a0 Have your children cut out words and pictures that represent things they want for the new year, then glue them onto the board.\u00a0 Encourage them to be optimistic and to dream big!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#99cc00;\"><strong>7.\u00a0 Make fizzy cupcakes.<\/strong>\u00a0 Bake and frost cupcakes and then sprinkle them with Pop Rocks.\u00a0 We usually avoid junky stuff like that but every once in a while it\u2019s pretty fun to have really crazy treats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#808080;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 Challenge the kids to make each other laugh as much as possible.\u00a0 <\/strong>Try for all out belly laughs, snorts and the type of giggles where you can\u2019t catch your breath.\u00a0 If you can, catch it on tape to make you all laugh all over again later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4135\/4892541707_eb693ec72e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>9.\u00a0 Go on a joking spree!\u00a0 <\/strong>Write out corny jokes on small pieces of paper and leave them for folks to find\u2013 on counters, in bathroom stalls, you name it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><strong>10. Throw a dinner party just for your family.\u00a0<\/strong> Put out the good china and some delicious appetizers, set the table grandly and dress the part.\u00a0 Put on some music, light some candles and take your time enjoying your own company together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><em>And with that, I&#8217;m off to tend to an injured boy, snuggle with a small girl, hang out with some bigger kids, figure out lunch, work on a family video message for a certain teenager and clean like crazy.\u00a0 Or at least a bit of that&#8230;\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see how it goes!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><em>Have a magical week!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday!
