I’m back from my blogging hiatus.\u00a0 Daryl is recovering well from his hip replacement surgery.\u00a0 It will still be some time before he’s fully mobile, but it’s all going great so far.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here’s a few ways to make some memories with your kids this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 If you’re lucky enough to live in the right climate, go maple syrup tapping.\u00a0<\/strong> This is a can’t-miss experience for those of us who live near sugar maple trees this time of year.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Use recycled newspaper to make plantable muffin tin pots for seedlings.\u00a0<\/strong> Visit<\/span> Hands are full, Hearts are full<\/span><\/a> for the wonderful tutorial.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Make some whimsical finger puppets.<\/strong>\u00a0 Check out das-wolkenschaf’s photostream<\/span><\/a> for more wonderful inspiration (edit: it’s no longer online, unfortunately).<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 Tape a length of string across the room as a net and play balloon volleyball inside.\u00a0<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0 Do some nature studies.\u00a0<\/strong> This is the perfect time of year for lots of spring nature fun.\u00a0 Here’s<\/span><\/a> ten ideas to get you started.<\/span><\/p>\n

6.<\/strong>\u00a0 Buy or make a blank book and start a family cookbook.\u00a0 <\/strong>Make up a new recipe for it each week together.\u00a0 Some good simple dishes include smoothies, soups and jazzed up grilled sandwiches.\u00a0 Encourage the kids to think up really fabulous names for each recipe.<\/span><\/p>\n

7.\u00a0 Make a painter’s tape maze and then have the kids dribble or kick a ball through it.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

8.\u00a0 Make a sticky spider web.\u00a0<\/strong> Hands on as we Grow<\/span><\/a> came up with this wonderful activity where you make a painter’s tape spiderweb and throw newspaper balls at it and try to make them stick.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

9.\u00a0 Make some hand puppets from old stuffed animals<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/strong>Simply cut a slit in the back or cut the legs off an old stuffed animal, remove most of the stuffing (or all), and let kids start putting on some shows.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42

10. Let the kids play with their food! <\/strong>Give them an assortment of fruit pieces and let them go nuts.\u00a0 <\/span> This idea is courtesy of my son, Jack.\u00a0 He and his little brother even set up a store and made everybody fake money so we could all buy the ones we liked!\u00a0 <\/span>Look at the lovely creations my boys made this morning.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n
