{"id":2147,"date":"2013-01-21T16:01:39","date_gmt":"2013-01-21T16:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=2147"},"modified":"2013-01-21T16:01:39","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T16:01:39","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-121","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/21\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-121\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#333333;\"><strong>Happy Monday!\u00a0<\/strong> I hope you&#8217;re staying warm in your little corner of the world.\u00a0 We have some crazy temperatures here lately (even for Minnesota!).\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping it gets above 0 today.\u00a0 How&#8217;s that for a crazy wish?\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333333;\"><strong>Cold, snow or not, here&#8217;s a few ways to make some memories with your kids this week&#8230;.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/snowballs.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2148\" alt=\"Watercolor snowballs - A Magical Childhood\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/snowballs.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/snowballs.jpg 500w, http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/snowballs-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/snowballs-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><strong>1.\u00a0 Make watercolor snowballs.<\/strong>\u00a0 Just bring in a pan of snow and give the kids some watercolor paints and paintbrushes.\u00a0 They can pack the snow into snowballs and then paint them.\u00a0 Store them in a bucket in the freezer until you&#8217;re ready to return them to the wild.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 You can decorate the yard with them or the kids can toss them, but let the kids know they should toss at targets like trees and not people since they freeze a little hard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><strong>2.\u00a0 Go sledding inside!\u00a0<\/strong> Get out a big towel and drag the kids around the kitchen floor.\u00a0 Kids can pull each other around, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>3.\u00a0 Make a &#8220;gingerbread house&#8221; for the birds and squirrels.\u00a0<\/strong> Get together some graham crackers, peanut butter or sunbutter and a variety of bird seeds and then assemble like a regular house with peanut butter as the icing\/glue.\u00a0 Take a picture of your masterpiece and then leave it where it\u2019s visible from inside so you can watch to see who visits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/snowhill.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2149\" alt=\"A Magical Childhood\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/snowhill.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/snowhill.jpg 500w, http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/snowhill-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve got snow where you live, head to one of the spots where the snowplows dump it off to play.\u00a0<\/strong> It makes for instant mountain ranges!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net\/hphotos-prn1\/71503_10151420508232033_581328111_n.jpg\" width=\"486\" height=\"486\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">5.\u00a0 Get glow in the dark paint and help the kids write secret messages and pictures on their ceilings.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\"><strong>6.\u00a0 Use kitchen gadgets to make supper fanciful.<\/strong>\u00a0 For instance, use a cookie press to pipe out mashed potato stars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2784\/4296612315_ea1b37aa0d_m.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><strong>7.\u00a0 Make giant ice suncatchers.\u00a0<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/02\/giant-ice-suncatchers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here&#8217;s<\/a> the easy instructions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#666699;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 Make up a couple dozen fortunes and stash them in cereal boxes, snacks, the cookie jar, etc.\u00a0<\/strong> Make some especially silly (<em>Beware of odd rabbits today.\u00a0 You will have a monkey on your head\u2026.<\/em>) and some sappy (<em>Your mama loves you more than peanut butter cups.\u00a0 I\u2019m proud of you\u2026<\/em>).\u00a0 Slip some in drawers and leave some for your sweetie, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2-b.examiner.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/image_content_width\/hash\/d9\/1d\/frost_0.JPG\" width=\"467\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><strong>9.\u00a0 Take advantage of the cold and do some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/article\/cold-weather-science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\">cold weather science experiments<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong> Vaporize hot water in the air, blow frozen bubbles, experiment with salt and water on colored ice, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><strong>10.\u00a0 Start a pride jar.\u00a0<\/strong> Every time you\u2019re proud of your child, write the reason on a slip of paper and put it in a pretty jar.
