{"id":2130,"date":"2012-12-23T01:52:07","date_gmt":"2012-12-23T01:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=2130"},"modified":"2012-12-23T01:52:07","modified_gmt":"2012-12-23T01:52:07","slug":"easy-sturdy-free-building-blocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/23\/easy-sturdy-free-building-blocks\/","title":{"rendered":"Easy, Sturdy (Free) Building Blocks!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>Here&#8217;s a little project that we&#8217;ve been doing for years.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net\/hphotos-prn1\/156096_10151398996722033_1618617937_n.jpg\" width=\"499\" height=\"499\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>These fun blocks are so easy!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">I was planning on making a set of building blocks for Fiona for Christmas, but she kept trying to manhandle the presents under the tree so I decided to make her a set of &#8220;presents&#8221; of her own.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">It worked like a charm!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>Here&#8217;s all you do:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Save your cartons of drinks like almond milk and orange juice.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll need two cartons for each block.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Cut off the top.\u00a0 Rinse and dry.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Fit one carton into another (open ends facing each other), so that the block is closed on all sides.\u00a0 This also makes it very sturdy, since it&#8217;s basically doubled up.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Wrap with wrapping paper or cover with contact paper.\u00a0 If you use paper, you can seal it with clear contact paper.\u00a0 You can also tape on family pictures, magazine pages or other fun images before sealing with contact paper.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>That&#8217;s it!\u00a0<\/strong> You can change them whenever you like by simply wrapping them with a new wrapping paper or covering with another layer of paper and contact paper.\u00a0<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">When my bigger kids were little, I made a &#8220;marble&#8221; set with marble contact paper so it looked like they were building stone buildings.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">You can also use little individual milk cartons (like school lunch size) to make alphabet blocks.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a little project that we&#8217;ve been doing for years.
