{"id":1775,"date":"2011-12-12T20:51:14","date_gmt":"2011-12-12T20:51:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1775"},"modified":"2011-12-12T20:51:14","modified_gmt":"2011-12-12T20:51:14","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-holiday-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/12\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-holiday-style\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical&#8230; Holiday Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5168\/5299459054_950e07696b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>Happy Holidays!\u00a0<\/strong> I&#8217;m snatching a list of ways to make the day magical that I put in the Magical Childhood newsletter back in 2002!\u00a0 It helps to have done this for so long and be able to steal from myself when life gets hectic.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">I know that people celebrate all different wonderful holidays this time of year so some of these might not apply to your family, but I hope that you find something that does!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>10 Ways to Make Today Magical&#8230;. holiday style<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">1.\u00a0 Camp out under the Christmas tree overnight.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>2.\u00a0 Give each child a small amount of money and go shopping for the food shelf.\u00a0 Let them choose what they buy, reminding them to look for stuff they&#8217;d want to eat but also that they can get a lot more by buying inexpensive items.\u00a0 Go together to the food shelf or drop off spot.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">3.\u00a0 Go for a drive to see holiday lights.\u00a0 Better yet, park and walk.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 See if your church or neighborhood groups are going Christmas caroling, or put together your own group and visit a few neighbors.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">5.\u00a0 Make gingerbread people.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>6. Take in a concert at a nearby school or community center.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">7.\u00a0 Dress up in holiday colors and\/or fancy clothes for everyday stuff.\u00a0 Add curling ribbon to the kids&#8217; hair (and yours!), wear necklaces made from small ornaments, and generally dress to the nines.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 Make time regularly through the season to turn off all the noise, gather with the kids and read scripture or stories that move you, say prayers or concentrate on your spirituality in a meaningful way.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#008000;\">9.\u00a0 Have a red and green meal.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>10.
