{"id":1720,"date":"2011-10-30T13:40:02","date_gmt":"2011-10-30T13:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1720"},"modified":"2011-10-30T13:40:02","modified_gmt":"2011-10-30T13:40:02","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-109","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/30\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-109\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6050\/6250575267_df4a225142.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#333333;\">Hello magical people!<\/span>\u00a0 I&#8217;m posting this late for the past couple of weeks or early for Monday, since it looks like we&#8217;ll be out of town.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>Baby Fiona and I are doing great.\u00a0 She&#8217;s up to 9 pounds (she was 8 1\/2 at birth) and she&#8217;s an extremely happy, sweet baby.\u00a0 We all adore her, and her older siblings rush to kiss and care for her.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>I am recovering very well from the surgery, which is a huge relief.\u00a0 Fiona&#8217;s birth made five C-sections, which is a truly alarming number!\u00a0 We had planned on only having three children because more than three C-sections is considered so risky, but I am quite happy that Alex and Fiona thwarted our intentions.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>In any event, I thought I&#8217;d dash off a list of ways to make a little magic this week.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a few ideas&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0 Leave a spooky family message on the answering machine or voice mail.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>2.\u00a0 For a fun twist on bobbing for apples, hang donuts from strings and challenge the kids to eat them without using their hands.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>3.\u00a0 Make <a href=\"http:\/\/cfabbridesigns.com\/blog\/halloween\/junk-drawer-pumpkin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">junk drawer pumpkins<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 These are so cute!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net\/upload\/401491260_CxcI6nMX_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"177\" \/><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 After Halloween, let the kids go nuts smashing pumpkins.\u00a0 It&#8217;s surprisingly fun!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 For more fun pumpkin ideas, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/green-culture-in-mankato\/35-fabulous-ways-to-use-pumpkins-for-crafts-entertaining-education-and-more\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#800000;\">here<\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2564\/4067834534_3b1f7d8737.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"407\" height=\"500\" \/><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>5.<\/strong>\u00a0 <strong>Add water balloons to your child\u2019s bath.\u00a0 No, you don\u2019t throw them, but they\u2019re fun to play with!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>6.\u00a0 Go hiking someplace wild and wonderful.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4131\/5157007632_42887cd8f9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><strong>7.\u00a0 Start having an international day once a week for lunch or dinner.\u00a0 Play music from a chosen country and serve a traditional meal from that region.\u00a0 If you like, try to dress family members in suitable clothes or add some games or traditions too.\u00a0 You can start with relatively &#8220;easy&#8221; countries that are pretty familiar to most of us in terms of cuisine and culture or dive right into new and different ones.\u00a0 Some possible countries are China, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Germany, Greece, Australia, Ethiopia and Iceland.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 Learn<strong> the polka, hokey pokey, macarena or another silly dance together.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>9.\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>Have a pajama party with another mama friend and her kiddos.\u00a0 Everybody camp out in the living room or head home at bedtime.\u00a0 Pop popcorn, watch movies everybody loves, play games and be silly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>10.
