{"id":172,"date":"2009-07-21T01:39:00","date_gmt":"2009-07-21T01:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/21\/homemade-fruit-roll-ups\/"},"modified":"2009-07-21T01:39:00","modified_gmt":"2009-07-21T01:39:00","slug":"homemade-fruit-roll-ups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/21\/homemade-fruit-roll-ups\/","title":{"rendered":"Homemade Fruit Roll-ups!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gourmet.com\/images\/recipes\/2008\/05\/rs_strawberrryleather608.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;\"><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><strong>I&#8217;m in love with this idea from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gourmet.com\/recipes\/2000s\/2008\/05\/strawberry_leather\">Gourmet Magazine<\/a> and am definitely going to give it a go with the kids this week.&nbsp; Last week we made popovers, butter and lollipops (all easy versions!) and we are all really enjoying doing recipes together.&nbsp; The kids love fruit roll-ups but I love all natural foods.&nbsp; What a perfect solution.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"headers\">\n<h1 class=\"header\">Strawberry Leather<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"body\">\n<div class=\"time-and-yield\">\n<div class=\"yield\"><span class=\"label\">Serves<\/span>8 to 10 (snack)<\/div>\n<ul class=\"time\">\n<li><span class=\"label\">Active time:<\/span>1 hr<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"label\">Start to finish:<\/span>8 hr (includes cooling)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"display-date\"><!-- MMMM yyyy -->                                                                                May 2008<\/div>\n<div class=\"ingredient-sets\">\n<div class=\"ingredient-set\">\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1 1\/2<\/span>                         <span class=\"unit\">lb<\/span>                         <span class=\"name\">strawberries, halved (4 1\/2 cups)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3\/4<\/span>                         <span class=\"unit\">cup<\/span>                         <span class=\"name\">sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul class=\"appurtenances\">\n<li class=\"appurtenance\">\n<h3>Equipment:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"text\">a 17- by 12-inch nonstick bakeware liner such as a Silpat; a large offset spatula<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"preparation\">\n<div class=\"prep-steps\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"step\">\n<div class=\"text\">Pur&eacute;e strawberries with sugar in a blender until smooth, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a large heavy saucepan.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"step\">\n<div class=\"text\">Bring pur&eacute;e to a boil, then simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally (more frequently toward end), until thick enough to mound slightly and reduced to 1 to 11\/4 cups, 45 minutes to 1 hour.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"step\">\n<div class=\"text\">Preheat oven to 200&deg;F with rack in middle. Line a large baking sheet with nonstick liner.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"step\">\n<div class=\"text\">Pour hot pur&eacute;e onto liner and spread thinly (as evenly as possible) into a 15- by 10-inch rectangle using spatula.
