alone tonight.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>I was alone last night, too.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>This is the first time I&#8217;ve been absolutely alone (without at least one of the kids) for this long in over thirteen years of parenthood!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>Daryl and the kids are volunteering at a wonderful event called History Fest out of town.\u00a0 We volunteer there as a family every year, but this year I am too pregnant to go along and take part.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>They are staying at Grandma and Grandpa&#8217;s house and I was going to go with them and stay there, too, but I haven&#8217;t been feeling very good and I have so many things I wanted to get done around the house before Monday (when our baby comes!).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>So at the last minute, we decided I&#8217;d stay home on my own.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>I have friends nearby who can come if needed, and Daryl and the kids are not too far away.\u00a0 And I never, ever, ever go into labor early.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>I&#8217;ve actually enjoyed my new-found time alone!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve accomplished a ton of things around the house, got lots of extra sleep and have relished the quiet in this house this is so used to being so noisy!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>Just the same, it will be nice to have my family back tomorrow.\u00a0 I suppose I&#8217;m good at chaos.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>This time on my own reminded me of a poem I wrote years ago when I only had two little girls.\u00a0 I think about the lines of this poem often, because after all these years it still sums up how I feel about my family.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>I plan on updating it soon, to reflect the changes we&#8217;ve gone through since I first wrote it.\u00a0 Just the same, the meaning remains.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>I thought some of you might like it&#8230;.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Flight<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color:#ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/div>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I know women<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 who would lose their children<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 like throwing off a robe,<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 unbraiding a red ribbon<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and discarding it, to let<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 their wild selves fly free.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I know women<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 who put aside their children<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 like cheap jewelry by the side of the bed.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I know women<\/strong><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 who never seem to wear them at all.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> My girls, I do not want<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> to be free of you.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> You are like my wedding rings<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> which I could have easily slipped out of<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> but wear<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> every day that my heart beats.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> I want you near me.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> My girls, my husband,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> when I see a sunset<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> I want these two eyes<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> to be part of the eight who see it.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> I want our laughter and stories<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> to be so tangled<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> that our memories weave into one dream.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> This is my time with you.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> Soon enough, you will be off<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> swimming your own new seas.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> Soon enough, we will step back and watch you<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong> blooming and bursting in solitary
