{"id":1690,"date":"2011-09-21T21:16:16","date_gmt":"2011-09-21T21:16:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1690"},"modified":"2011-09-21T21:16:16","modified_gmt":"2011-09-21T21:16:16","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-106","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/21\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-106\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Happy Someday!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><em>Note:\u00a0 I started this post on Monday, but thanks to an autumn cold, a doctor&#8217;s appointment, an irritable uterus, a washing machine with a temper tantrum and various other roadblocks it got more than a bit delayed!\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;m now working on it on Tuesday night and it may well be Wednesday before I finish up and hit publish.\u00a0 Whatever day this reaches you, I hope it&#8217;s a happy one!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\">We had a fabulous little mini-vacation last week.\u00a0 It was great fun and absolutely beautiful, but I keep forgetting that I&#8217;m 8 months pregnant and overdoing things.\u00a0 The baby let me know over the weekend that there are consequences to all that hiking, swimming and gallavanting!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\">I saw the doctor today and all is still going great.\u00a0 We have three weeks until we meet our little one (it&#8217;s a scheduled C-section, which is my only option).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Enough about me though!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Here&#8217;s a few ways to make some magic with your kiddos this week&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>1.\u00a0 Print out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.designhousedigital.com\/content\/blog\/happy-april-fools-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">this<\/span><\/a> free disguise kit for the kids from Design House Digital.\u00a0 Be sure to take lots of pictures!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net\/upload\/211774110_NlyT4Wl4_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"191\" height=\"248\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>2.\u00a0 Sit down with your kids and make up lists of 10 or 20 things you each love about special people in your lives.\u00a0 You can write the lists for kids who aren&#8217;t writing yet, but keep it in their words and have them add some decorations.\u00a0 Then mail them out or take a picture and email them to brighten their day.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><strong>3.\u00a0 Bake a cake, just because.\u00a0 Add candles to each piece and let the kids make wishes and blow them out again and again!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 Get an old flour sifter from a thrift store, cut some templates and let the kids sift shapes onto the lawn or sidewalk with flour.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/pinkandgreenmama.blogspot.com\/2010\/07\/fourth-of-july-fun-sifted-flour-lawn.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#000080;\">Pink and Green Mama<\/span><\/a> has the simple instructions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/09\/img_9151.jpg?w=200\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"320\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>5.\u00a0 Go apple picking (at an orchard or the back yard of a generous friend or family member!) and then make all sorts of goodies from your bounty.\u00a0 Try bobbing for apples too.\u00a0 It&#8217;s harder than you think!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>6. Go on a puddle hunt.\u00a0 Head outside together and go looking for puddles to throw things into, stomp in, investigate and otherwise explore.\u00a0 On the right day, nothing is more magical to a small child than unlimited time spent with a good mud puddle!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6066\/6128969931_2308e06229.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><strong>7.\u00a0 Make some glow in the dark playdough!\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/sunhatswellieboots.blogspot.com\/2011\/09\/homemade-glow-in-dark-play-dough.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\">Sun Hats and Wellie Boots<\/span><\/a> tells you how.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/09\/dough3.jpg?w=276\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"320\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Gather a box full of odds and ends from around the house for the kids to create robots, sculptures, inventions or other nifties with.\u00a0 Possibilities include parts of broken toys, lids, hardware, chopsticks, items from the recycling bin, tin foil, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, sticks, bolts, washers, you name it.\u00a0 Include wire, sturdy tape and a glue gun (with supervision) to help put everything together.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#808000;\"><strong>9.\u00a0<strong><strong>Have a Ten Good Deeds Day.\u00a0 Each family member picks 10 things to do for others (strangers or loved ones) and writes them down.\u00a0 When the last one is done, everybody celebrates with a little group reward.\u00a0 Try to log the good deeds in a special place so you can look back on them later.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><strong>10.\u00a0 Have a <a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/07\/balloon-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">balloon day<\/span><\/a> with crafts, activities and silliness.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2621\/3986538350_8626369e5f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\">And with that, my dears, I&#8217;d better hit publish quickly before it&#8217;s January and I haven&#8217;t gotten this out yet!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Have a magical week!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Someday!
