and &#8220;Hey!\u00a0 Victoria used all the red up!&#8221; all day!)<\/em>,<strong> I soon realized that it made much more sense to just mix up:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>One part self rising flour<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>One part salt<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>Enough water to make a paste<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\">and THEN divide it into muffin tins or ice cube trays and add food coloring!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>Either way, all you do is give the kids Q-tips or paint brushes and instruct them to dab it on cardboard.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2013\" title=\"Puffy paint from A Magical Childhood\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\">We used recycled Priority Mail boxes for our canvases, cut into small squares.\u00a0 You want a nice sturdy canvas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2014\" title=\"Puffy paint from A Magical Childhood\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\">When the picture is finished, <strong>microwave it for about 10 seconds<\/strong> (we did 5 second intervals and occasionally needed longer for really thick and wet paintings).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#333399;\">All four kids had a blast using this stuff and they used it off and on the whole day and into the night.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2015\" title=\"Puffy paint from A Magical Childhood\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p81.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2017\" title=\"Puffy paint from A Magical Childhood\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/p81.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve seen recipes for homemade puffy paint many times over the years, but I never took the time to make it with the kids until today.
