{"id":1636,"date":"2011-08-15T18:18:56","date_gmt":"2011-08-15T18:18:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1636"},"modified":"2011-08-15T18:18:56","modified_gmt":"2011-08-15T18:18:56","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-101","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2011\/08\/15\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-101\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6208\/6046454684_99627802b4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><em><strong>Happy Monday!<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><em><strong>We&#8217;re back from the wilds of Nebraska and settling back into normal life.\u00a0 It was a fun time but it&#8217;s good to be home.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><em><strong>I wrote out a list of ten ways to make the day magical while at a science museum in Nebraska last week, but I seem to have accidentally left it in the play area.\u00a0 Someone else must have stumbled onto a very strange little to-do list written in colored pencil.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><em><strong>I&#8217;ve forgotten all of those ones, so I&#8217;ll have to dream up some new!\u00a0 Here&#8217;s some ways to make a little magic with your kiddos this week&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">1.\u00a0 Make a marble circus.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/parisbourke.com\/2011\/03\/18\/marble-circus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Paris Bourke<\/span><\/a> has a printable you can print, color and cut, then attach to a shoe box.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/oziozal.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/03\/marble-circus2.jpg?w=420&amp;h=315\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><strong>2.\u00a0 Do some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/homeschooling-in-mankato\/campfire-science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\">campfire science<\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><strong>3.\u00a0 Make glow stick lanterns by simply breaking glow sticks and pouring them into glass jars (mix colors for extra fun).\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lilblueboo.com\/2011\/07\/glow-stick-lanterns.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">Lil Blue Boo<\/span><\/a> has the simple instructions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net\/upload\/60683004_R53d2dKr_c.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"369\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 Make a mix of songs that all have meaning for your child &#8212; songs with her name in it, songs about the state you live in, favorite animals, you name it.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\"><strong>5.\u00a0 Create an altered cookbook.\u00a0 Take a lousy cookbook and assign this challenge&#8211; kids must pick a recipe from it and change 3 items in the ingredients to form a new family recipe.\u00a0 Write over the recipe with a funky colored pen (each family member gets her own color) to make changes.\u00a0 Try to make the recipes as different from the original as possible, and tastier.\u00a0 After tasting the final creation, the family rates the recipe and writes that in next to the entry.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>6.\u00a0 Make some colorful catapults.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/familyfun.go.com\/crafts\/crafts-by-age\/school-age-crafts\/colorful-catapult-673272\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">Family Fun<\/span><\/a> has simple instructions or design your own.\u00a0 My four-year loves to use everything from forks to rulers to make up homemade ones.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/familyfun.go.com\/assets\/cms\/crafts\/colorful-catapult-craft-photo-260-FF1007EFHA01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"260\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>7.\u00a0 Use washable markers to give each other temporary tattoos.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 Have a sack race.\u00a0 Pillow cases work well.\u00a0 Everybody hop to the finish line.\u00a0 Older kids and grown ups can hop backwards.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>9.\u00a0 August is a great time to &#8220;catch&#8221; falling stars.\u00a0 Lie outside on a blanket together and wait to see if you can spot any.\u00a0 While you&#8217;re waiting, it&#8217;s a great opportunity to just talk.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#666699;\"><strong>10.\u00a0 Teach the kids to do the macarena and then video tape the fun.\u00a0 You join in too!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color:#800080;\">And with that, I&#8217;m off to a prenatal appointment and a play date with a certain 13 year-old.\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color:#800080;\">Kiss your babies (even the big ones), count your blessings, and don&#8217;t forget to take care of you!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday!
