{"id":1547,"date":"2011-06-08T18:06:55","date_gmt":"2011-06-08T18:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1547"},"modified":"2011-06-08T18:06:55","modified_gmt":"2011-06-08T18:06:55","slug":"20-childrens-books-that-are-a-joy-to-read-aloud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/08\/20-childrens-books-that-are-a-joy-to-read-aloud\/","title":{"rendered":"20 Children&#8217;s Books That Are a Joy to Read Aloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.midnight-muse.com\/images\/rffair.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"238\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">There are a million reasons why we read to our children.\u00a0 The best books contain wonderful art, engaging stories, rich vocabulary and something that just makes kids (and their grown ups) feel good.\u00a0 They also are the kind of book you don&#8217;t mind reading again and again to your kiddos.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Here&#8217;s 20 books that we return to over and over because they do that for us.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>(Note: I haven&#8217;t separated these into age levels because I really think great books transcend age and families often read together.\u00a0 The majority are picture books.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll post a list of recommended chapter books for older kids soon.)<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>A Fairy Went A-Marketing (a must own, as far as I&#8217;m concerned!)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Miss Rumphius<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Kiss the Cow<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>There&#8217;s a Nightmare in My Closet<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Mama, Do You Love Me?<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Please Baby Please<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Hop on Pop (my favorite for helping reading &#8220;click&#8221; for kids)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>More! More! More! Said the Baby<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Anything (Pooh or poetry) by A.A.
