{"id":1524,"date":"2011-05-23T16:39:46","date_gmt":"2011-05-23T16:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1524"},"modified":"2011-05-23T16:39:46","modified_gmt":"2011-05-23T16:39:46","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-94","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/23\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-94\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>Happy Monday!<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>I hope you and your family stayed safe from the recent storms.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>Here&#8217;s a few ways to make some memories this week&#8230;&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><strong>1.\u00a0 Make some flower petal potions.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theimaginationtree.com\/2011\/05\/rose-petal-fairy-perfume.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\">The Imagination Tree<\/span><\/a> has instructions for making their lovely Rose Petal Fairy Perfume.\u00a0 Just don&#8217;t be surprised if it smells less than lovely after a few days if all the petals aren&#8217;t removed in a timely fashion.\u00a0 I speak from years of experience finding forgotten potions in my house!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/img_7485.jpg?w=200\" alt=\"\" width=\"427\" height=\"640\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#800080;\">2.\u00a0 Bake a white sheet cake and decorate with clean paintbrushes and fruit juice paint.\u00a0 (To make fruit juice paint, either use a little bit of frozen 100% fruit concentrate that&#8217;s been thawed or put a small amount of frozen fruits like blueberries or strawberries in a dish and microwave them for about 30 seconds.\u00a0 The resulting juice at the bottom of the dish will be vividly colored.)<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"font-size:xx-small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#808000;\"><strong>3.\u00a0 Play baseball, basketball or catch with water balloons.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 Try some snap painting!\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbasedlearning.com.au\/2011\/05\/mini-snap-painting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">Irrisistible Ideas for Play Based Learning<\/span><\/a> has this fun tutorial that I want to try with my kiddos (outside!) sometime soon.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.playbasedlearning.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_49201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>5.\u00a0 Make some easy stilts.\u00a0 Use a can opener to poke holes on either side of two large coffee cans (upside down).\u00a0 Thread rope through to make handles for the kids to hold on to as they walk.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\"><strong>6.\u00a0 Start a bug collection.\u00a0 Dead bugs only.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><strong>7.\u00a0 Make an obstacle course in the back yard.\u00a0 Good props include boards, rope, tires, tall cardboard boxes (open both ends to make tunnels), wading pools, hula hoops and sprinklers.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 Put chalkboard contact paper on lower kitchen cabinets and turn the kitchen into an art gallery for the kids.\u00a0 Peel it off when you&#8217;re sick of it.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>9.\u00a0 Make a mess in the mud.\u00a0 Find some dirt, get it wet, and stomp, smush and play together in it.\u00a0 Wiggle your toes in it.\u00a0 Write your name in it.\u00a0 Stir it with sticks.\u00a0 Put it in pie tins.\u00a0 Get dirty.\u00a0 I guarantee it&#8217;ll be one of the best times you&#8217;ll have all week.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 320px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/pix-may22252c2011096.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/strong><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by Annalee Bayer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color:#d023db;\"><strong>10. Do something for your kids that they&#8217;d swear they&#8217;ve outgrown, but would secretly love.\u00a0 Make some treat they relished when they were little, bring out a beloved family book or movie, sing them &#8220;their&#8221; songs and pull them onto your lap for just a little bit.\u00a0 We never really outgrow the need to be babied at least once in a while.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#d023db;\"><strong>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>And with that, chickadees, I&#8217;m off to bake some goodies and play outside with my sweeties.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>Have a magical week!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday!
