{"id":150,"date":"2009-07-01T00:25:00","date_gmt":"2009-07-01T00:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/01\/freecycle\/"},"modified":"2009-07-01T00:25:00","modified_gmt":"2009-07-01T00:25:00","slug":"freecycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/01\/freecycle\/","title":{"rendered":"Freecycle!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><span style=\"color:rgb(255,0,255);\"><strong>Do you Freecycle?&nbsp; We&#8217;ve been using our local <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freecycle.org\/\">Freecycle<\/a> lists for a few years now and really love it.&nbsp; Over the years we have given away&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Little Tikes play kitchen<\/li>\n<li>A Little Tikes standing easel<\/li>\n<li>3 bags of sci-fi books<\/li>\n<li>A set of Science texts<\/li>\n<li>An ironing board<\/li>\n<li>Wallpaper stripper<\/li>\n<li>2 bikes<\/li>\n<li>Bags of baby clothes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just to name a bit!&nbsp; We have also been the recipients of&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A loveseat hide-a-bed<\/li>\n<li>A room sized oriental rug<\/li>\n<li>Little boys&#8217; clothes<\/li>\n<li>Family Tree software<\/li>\n<li>Hostas for our garden<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yesterday I noticed a post offering two microwave ovens.&nbsp; We don&#8217;t need a microwave oven, so I completely ignored it.&nbsp; Three hours later, our microwave oven bit the dust.&nbsp; We got it used 14 years ago so we figured it had a good life!&nbsp; I emailed the woman and asked if a microwave was still available.&nbsp; It was!<\/p>\n<p>Today we picked up a new, free microwave oven.&nbsp; The lady explained they had been sitting in her garage.&nbsp; She said the white one was better but it had a hole in it where her child had punched it (!).&nbsp; She&#8217;d covered it with masking tape.&nbsp; It was big and functional (the inside glass is intact), but not the most beautiful appliance on the block.&nbsp; A quick trip into my scrapbooking supplies fixed that, though.&nbsp; Now it just looks like my children&#8217;s nutty mother pasted a silly cardstock note to the front.&nbsp; Much better!&nbsp; \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align:center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2422\/3677764698_26f1558ca7.jpg?v=0\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;\">It works like a charm and in today&#8217;s tight times, FREE&nbsp;is a very nice price!<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not signed up for your local Freecycle list, I really recommend it.&nbsp; You can keep things out of the landfills, declutter your house, save some money, help people and pick up a surprising amount of things.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget the kid angle, too.&nbsp; If times are tight, it can be hard to justify buying things like craft supplies or sports equipment.&nbsp; Many people have oodles of this stuff sitting around, though, and would be happy to see it loved again.&nbsp; I&#8217;ve had friends who have received everything from pottery wheels to beading supplies to children&#8217;s clothes through Freecycle.<\/p>\n<p>If only someone would Freecycle a cleaning crew&#8230;.&nbsp; \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>Happy Wednesday!<br \/>~Alicia<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you Freecycle?&nbsp; We&#8217;ve been using our local Freecycle lists for a few years now and really love it.&nbsp; Over the years we have given away&#8230; A Little Tikes play kitchen A Little Tikes standing easel 3 bags of sci-fi books A set of Science texts An ironing board Wallpaper stripper 2 bikes Bags of&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[145,234],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/150"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=150"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/150\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=150"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=150"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=150"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
