{"id":149,"date":"2009-06-30T00:06:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-30T00:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/30\/tiny-worry-dolls\/"},"modified":"2009-06-30T00:06:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-30T00:06:00","slug":"tiny-worry-dolls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2009\/06\/30\/tiny-worry-dolls\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiny:  Worry Dolls!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><span style=\"color:rgb(255,153,0);\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3565\/3674512382_b9cd5f954b.jpg?v=0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;\"><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><span style=\"color:rgb(255,153,0);\"><strong>I have been meaning to get back into doing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unplugyourkids.com\/\">Unplug Your Kids<\/a> projects with the kids and this week&#8217;s theme could not have been more timely&#8211; TINY.<\/p>\n<p>Just today my package came from the Greater Good store, which is tied to sites like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.therainforestsite.com\/clickToGive\/home.faces?siteId=4&amp;link=ctg_trs_home_from_ths_home_sitenav\">The Rainforest Site<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.therainforestsite.com\/clickToGive\/home.faces?siteId=1&amp;link=ctg_ths_home_from_trs_thankyou_sitenav\">The Hunger Site<\/a>.&nbsp; Included in the package were four pouches of tiny <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.therainforestsite.com\/store\/item.do?itemId=35171&amp;siteId=221&amp;sourceId=221&amp;sourceClass=StoreSearch&amp;index=1\">worry dolls<\/a>, one for each of the kids.<\/p>\n<p>These teeny tiny little handmade dolls are based on an old Mayan tradition of giving your worries to a doll and tucking it under your pillow at night.&nbsp; The doll is supposed to take away your worries while you sleep.<\/p>\n<p>I got two sets of regular worry dolls and two sets of cat dolls (which are fully dressed with arms, legs and whiskers!).&nbsp; They&#8217;re made through fair trade labor that helps women support their families in Guatemala, are super affordable ($1.95 per set of 6 in a little drawstring bag) and a small portion of proceeds goes to whichever charity site you enter through (mine was through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.therainforestsite.com\/clickToGive\/home.faces?siteId=6&amp;link=ctg_lit_home_from_trs_home_sitenav\">The Literacy Site<\/a> that time).&nbsp; Every one is unique and they&#8217;re really sweet.<\/p>\n<p>All four of my kids happily played with their worry dolls tonight.&nbsp; They had such fun!&nbsp; The boys lined them up and Jack put on a play with his.&nbsp; Anna started developing a family story for hers and Victoria thanked me about 6 times and told me how much she loved them.&nbsp; \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Children are so drawn to tiny things and I have to admit that even I really enjoy these itty bitty people (and felines!).&nbsp; I love the way every one of them is dressed differently and how easy it is to want to start making up stories for them.<\/p>\n<p>The only bad thing is that Victoria likes hers so much that she keeps worrying (ahem) about losing them!&nbsp; \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3319\/3674512598_9c61195a02.jpg?v=0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been meaning to get back into doing Unplug Your Kids projects with the kids and this week&#8217;s theme could not have been more timely&#8211; TINY.
