another list of ways to make a little magic this week&#8230;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">1.\u00a0 Cover something fun with chalkboard paint &#8212; a globe, the side of an old dresser, a door, old blocks, a wooden puzzle, you name it.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4014\/4527084670_4cdb8748dc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\">2.\u00a0 Let each child pick out something brand new to try at the grocery store.\u00a0 Look in the international foods and produce section for particularly fun and unique items.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\">3.\u00a0 Make an old fashioned treat like pulled taffy, rock candy or honey candy.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.homemade-dessert-recipes.com\/homemade-candy-recipes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here&#8217;s<\/a> a few recipes from old-time cookbooks that sound you&#8217;ve never visited.\u00a0 If you have a membership to a local museum you may be able to get into out of town museums for free with reciprocal agreements.\u00a0 Many art, science and history museums have free or low cost fees or offer special times when admission is free.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span shaker bottle (such as an old bottle from parmesan cheese or herbs) with baking soda and let the kids shake designs all over the carpet.\u00a0 If you like, make up some stencils to shake pretty white designs or spell words.\u00a0 Make a big powdery mess, and then vacuum it all up to freshen the carpet!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#808000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\">8.\u00a0 If you live in the right climate for it, go tap maple trees.\u00a0 Many parks, nature centers and other sites will take groups around and teach them how to tap trees.\u00a0 We go to a camp that lets the kids help drill holes, collect bags and taste the crystal clear sap.\u00a0 They even get to do a taste test between real and artificial maple syrups!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#808000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">9.\u00a0 Get a big box from an appliance store and make a sweet cardboard cat fort like <a href=\"http:\/\/pinkandgreenmama.blogspot.com\/2011\/02\/cardboard-box-cat-fort.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pink and Green Mama&#8217;s<\/a> or some other fantastic play space.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#339966;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#808000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" ceiling of your child&#8217;s bedroom or playroom to form a little secret room.\u00a0 Or for the super cheap and easy version&#8211; use toilet paper.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\"><em><span style=\"color:#008080;\">And with that, I&#8217;m off to play catch-up with a million and one things I&#8217;d rather not be doing &#8212; or to go play with my kiddos and peruse seed catalogs some more.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see which one wins out!<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span
