{"id":1419,"date":"2011-02-14T16:09:21","date_gmt":"2011-02-14T16:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1419"},"modified":"2011-02-14T16:09:21","modified_gmt":"2011-02-14T16:09:21","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-83","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/14\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-83\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">Thank you all for the well-wishes about our news last week.\u00a0 We&#8217;re quite nervous but quite excited.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see how everything goes!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">I&#8217;m behind on everything, as usual!\u00a0\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a few quick ways to make some magic this week (some Valentine&#8217;s themed, some not!)&#8230;.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">1.\u00a0 Cut out dozens of construction paper hearts and write a reason you love each other on each one.\u00a0 Cover the windows with them all!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\">2.\u00a0 Got leftover candy hearts?\u00a0 Use them as sidewalk chalk or dip them in water and draw on black construction paper with them!\u00a0 They work on indoor chalkboards too, just not as well!<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2739\/4359136169_9e0dcfa06e_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4008\/4359875884_6bc43fa521_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">3.\u00a0 Make a temporary stained glass window.\u00a0 Rip up some non-bleeding tissue paper and give your child a squirt bottle by a low window (sliding glass doors are perfect).\u00a0 Spray the window with water and then stick a piece of tissue paper against it, and add more and more.\u00a0 You might want to put old towels down underneath, and prepare for a colorful (wet) mess!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">4.\u00a0 Make decorated toast.\u00a0 Toast some bread, then give the kids squeeze bottles (ketchup bottles are good) filled with jellies, tinted honey (a little cranberry juice concentrate makes a nice red) and\/or cream cheese piping (beat some cream cheese, powdered sugar and milk to make a good drizzling consistency).\u00a0 Let the kids make a sweet, artistic mess.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">5.\u00a0 Decoupage an old can together (such as a coffee can, nut can or Pringles can) with old wrapping paper, magazines or garden catalogs and watered down glue.\u00a0 Cut a slit in the lid and decorate the front with your child&#8217;s name and lots of hearts.\u00a0 Every time you think a sweet thought about your child, want to share something you&#8217;re proud of or otherwise feel loving, write it on a slip of paper and drop it into the can.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><strong>6. <\/strong><strong>Tint a bottle of white glue with some food coloring. \u00a0 Spread out waxed paper and draw hearts or other shapes on it. Help your child pipe the glue onto the heart shapes (either filled in or not). When these dry they can be lifted off the waxed paper and stuck to the window.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">7.\u00a0 Melt some chocolate chips with a bit of coconut oil (or shortening) and then dip strawberries into it for homemade chocolate-covered strawberries.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn2-b.examiner.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/large\/hash\/41\/31\/Chocolate_covered_strawberries.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"158\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\">8.\u00a0 Use scraps from the recycling bin, old wrapping paper tubes and other odds and ends to make a giant Matchbox Car racetrack or marble run.\u00a0 Use painter&#8217;s tape to put it all together and watch things zip down it!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\">9.\u00a0 Go on a hunt for signs of spring.\u00a0 Believe it or not, there are some already!\u00a0 We saw bald eagles here in Minnesota last week, even though our lakes are still frozen and we&#8217;re still covered in snow.\u00a0 Maybe they know something we don&#8217;t!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>10.
