{"id":1312,"date":"2010-12-20T07:22:51","date_gmt":"2010-12-20T07:22:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1312"},"modified":"2010-12-20T07:22:51","modified_gmt":"2010-12-20T07:22:51","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-76","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/20\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-76\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><em>Happy Monday! <\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><em>Thank you to Sara and Yvonne, who sent us ornaments for our tree &#8212; one homemade link from a family paper chain and one twisted glass.\u00a0 We were all thrilled to get them and absolutely treasure them.\u00a0 They will do a wonderful job of making up for those we lost and they have really made us smile.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><em>Time for another list of ways to sneak a bit of magic into the days this week&#8230;<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\">1.\u00a0 Make some <em>10 Scents of Christmas<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/alittlelearningfortwo.blogspot.com\/2010\/12\/ten-scents-of-christmas-sensory-cards.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sensory cards<\/a> and some <a href=\"http:\/\/alittlelearningfortwo.blogspot.com\/2010\/12\/ten-scents-of-christmas-matching-cards.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">match-up cards<\/a> to go with them.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/12\/dsc08004.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/12\/dsc08105.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">2.\u00a0 Have some fun with a turkey baster. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><em><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">This is proof that children can use just about anything to make the day magical if you get involved. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">Jack discovered that the turkey baster we keep as a bath toy makes an excellent rocket launcher for a makeup brush today.\u00a0 He happily shot it as high as he could, at targets and in various ways while I cheered him on.\u00a0 Get two and have contests.\u00a0 Sit on the floor and launch things and laugh. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">3.\u00a0 Eat dinner with everybody talking with funny accents.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">4.\u00a0 No snow where you live?\u00a0 Sprinkle the carpet with baking soda and show the kids how to make snow angels.\u00a0 Afterwards, vacuum it up!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\">5. Make some <a href=\"http:\/\/loveinthesuburbs.com\/wordpress\/ice-lanterns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ice lanterns<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5123\/5225328382_fbdeb41977.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333300;\"><strong>6.\u00a0 Get out the dominoes and make domino runs.\u00a0 The longer and more complicated the better!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333300;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\">7. Make a paper chain of happy memories and accomplishments from the past year.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333300;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">8.\u00a0 Make a snowball target!\u00a0 I love this idea from <a href=\"http:\/\/nurturestore.co.uk\/snow-many-ways-to-play-and-learn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nurture Store<\/a>: <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><em><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>Draw a chalk target on an outside wall, line up some snowballs and shoot to score. Award different points for hitting different areas and keep tally with a score chart. Lots of adding up practice.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333300;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/nurturestore.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/IMG_7155-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>9. Leave your children notes under their pillows listing 20, 30 or 50 things you love about them.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333300;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">10. Go around neighborhoods and look at the holiday lights.\u00a0 Want to make it extra special?\u00a0 Freeze one ice wreath for each member of the family (put water in a bundt cake pan and add berries, sprigs of pine and\/or food coloring and colored ice cubes and freeze, run under warm water to unmold).\u00a0 Pop them into a freezer with notes tied around them thanking folks for making the world more magical.\u00a0 Let each family member leave a wreath on the lawn of their favorite decorated house.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><em>And with that, chickadees, I&#8217;m off again.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><em>Thanks for being magical.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday!
