{"id":1302,"date":"2010-12-14T20:41:17","date_gmt":"2010-12-14T20:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1302"},"modified":"2010-12-14T20:41:17","modified_gmt":"2010-12-14T20:41:17","slug":"snow-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/14\/snow-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Snow Day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5281\/5259261965_ce06c03776.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">We got a wee bit of snow around these parts recently.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5209\/5259245009_974ed009f7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">I used the opportunity to have a bit of snow fun at the dining room table.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">I had my faithful assistant, Victoria, go get bowls full of fresh snow and fill an under-the-bed storage container with it.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Then I put it on the table with an assortment of little cars and a bulldozer for Alex to do a version of Lonni&#8217;s shaving cream snow plow idea from the silly assignment day.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5288\/5259860474_f4db9dd0a9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">He plowed for a while but his hands got too cold, so we moved on.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">First I packed down the snow and gave him a big paintbrush, a jar of water (right in the tub, so spills wouldn&#8217;t matter) and some watercolor paints.\u00a0 He painted the snow for a bit, but it was a bit tricky.\u00a0 So we moved on.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">I put out a muffin tin of water and added primary colors to three of them, and then we made all different colors in the cups.\u00a0 I gave Jack, Victoria and Alex all pipettes (like tiny medicine droppers, I get them in bulk from a science surplus store for science and art fun!) and they squeezed colors to their hearts&#8217; contents.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5170\/5259255757_4a5f7e954c.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5082\/5259865328_8433aaee88.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5042\/5259866164_3963811c29.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">It was a colorful, artistic, crazy bunch of fun.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5082\/5259258145_e810af7ff9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Even I got into the act! <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5203\/5259258787_023a6c459b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">I\u00a0 highly recommend it next time you have a bit of the white stuff to deal with.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have any snow, try mixing up anything white in a similar container and dropping colored water on it.\u00a0 Dry rice, pale sand, shaving cream&#8230; Lots of things would be fun to experiment with!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">In my book, any activity that involves pipettes and colored water is a good idea.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5165\/5259260399_5f8e804d15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We got a wee bit of snow around these parts recently.
