{"id":1244,"date":"2010-11-30T17:13:13","date_gmt":"2010-11-30T17:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1244"},"modified":"2010-11-30T17:13:13","modified_gmt":"2010-11-30T17:13:13","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-74","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/30\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-74\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><em><strong>Hello magical you!\u00a0 So sorry for being a day late (and a dollar short?).\u00a0 We went on an impromptu mini-trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa and help put up their tree on Sunday, and while I could have sneaked off to post a list I was too busy swimming and playing.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><em><strong>I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving (for those who do Thanksgiving) and that the winter storms are missing you.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><em><strong>Enough yapping, though.\u00a0 On with some magical suggestions for the week&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">1.\u00a0 Serve snowmen for supper. <\/span> <span style=\"color:#333399;\">Make some mashed potatoes and scoop out three mounds per plate, stacked flat like a snowman lying down.\u00a0 <em>(Mash in some butter beans if you want to up the protein.)<\/em> Put out all sorts of veggie props to decorate the snowman &#8212; steamed carrots for limbs, peas for eyes and buttons, black olive slices and so on.\u00a0 Try some steamed broccoli trees for background too!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#99cc00;\">2.\u00a0 Make a wreath for the door together. <\/span> It can be made of anything &#8212; grapevine wreaths decorated with ornaments and ribbon, pine boughs wired in a circle with a big bow, or simple colored paper hand prints.\u00a0 Do it together and hang it proudly.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\">3.\u00a0 Got snow?\u00a0 Bring some pans inside and spray paint it.<\/span> When it&#8217;s too melted or colored up, dump it and get new!\u00a0 No snow?\u00a0 Try crushed ice!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4027\/4364534954_67e1f79c9c.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"384\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">4.\u00a0 Decorate something silly for the holidays. <\/span>Hang ornaments on the chandelier, stick bows all over the refrigerator, or hang garland in the car.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\">5.\u00a0 Take time off with each child to give each other manicures or pedicures. <\/span> Boys too, if they like!\u00a0 My Jack is secure enough with his 7 year-old manliness to have painted toes quite often.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">6.\u00a0 Dress in a holiday theme. <\/span> Put everybody in red and green or silver and blue, add curling ribbon to hair, don jingle bells and so on.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#a423db;\">7.\u00a0 Make jeweled princess bracelets.<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.craftsbyamanda.com\/2010\/08\/cardboard-tube-princess-bracelet.html\">Crafts by Amanda<\/a> shows you how to use cardboard tubes, felt, craft glue and some baubles in this child-friendly craft.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ywvV-d3ePCk\/TGIR1vlQGRI\/AAAAAAAAHEw\/Y8E9dcP-oqQ\/final3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"357\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><strong>8. <\/strong><\/span><strong><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\">Leave silly notes in hiding places all over the house.<\/span> It may take months for somebody to stumble on all of them, but it&#8217;s a wonderful way to break up an ordinary day to suddenly stumble on a note that says &#8220;Mama loves you&#8221; or &#8220;Kisses!\u00a0 You must come give your grandma 18 kisses immediately upon finding this!&#8221;. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#993300;\">9.\u00a0 Assemble a feast for the birds and beasties outside, and leave it where you can watch them nibble. <\/span>Ears of dried corn, peanuts in the shell, berries, seeds and sliced fruit are all favorites.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#15b6ac;\">10.
