{"id":1242,"date":"2010-11-28T16:34:35","date_gmt":"2010-11-28T16:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1242"},"modified":"2010-11-28T16:34:35","modified_gmt":"2010-11-28T16:34:35","slug":"a-little-holiday-art-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/28\/a-little-holiday-art-request\/","title":{"rendered":"A Little Holiday Art Request"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Would your kids be interested in making some art for a little boy who could use some smiles?\u00a0 Friends of seven year-old Joey are trying to get lots of cards and pictures for his hospital room.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note:\u00a0 The following letter is from the family organizing this card drive.\u00a0 While I do not know Joey&#8217;s family, I have known the mother who wrote this letter for many years through an online homeschooling group.\u00a0 You can follow Joey&#8217;s progress online <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/mattkelleronline.com\/\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>Attached is a picture of Joey pre-diagnosis and then after his surgery.\u00a0 He is\u00a07 years old.\u00a0 Three weeks ago he was able to\u00a0fully participate in an one hour\u00a0gym class.\u00a0\u00a0He started experiencing some vomiting and a couple of other symptoms.\u00a0 His\u00a0mom and dad took him to the doctor, they\u00a0thought it was a virus going around.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t get better, then he couldn&#8217;t walk.\u00a0 Fast forward three weeks, and they found\u00a0out he has a brain tumor on his brain stem and going down his spine.\u00a0 The cancer he has is so aggressive it can double in size in 24 hours.\u00a0 He has emergency surgery.\u00a0 The doctors are able to remove 98% from his brain stem, but\u00a0the masses going down his spine\u00a0are inoperable.\u00a0 He is scheduled for radiation for 5x a week for the next 6 weeks, with chemo.\u00a0 Joey is fighting for his life.\u00a0 He has a long road ahead of him.\u00a0 His family&#8217;s only request has been prayers for Joey.<\/div>\n<div>My children are friends of Joey.\u00a0\u00a0They are wanting to do something that will help Joey through this time.\u00a0 That is where TEAM JOEY has come from.\u00a0 Together we can let Joey and his\u00a0parents know that Joey is\u00a0NOT ALONE, that there are people everyday praying for Joey, that\u00a0people are thinking\u00a0about Joey and that Joey has a TEAM of people supporting him and his recovery.<\/div>\n<div>So here is the request.\u00a0 Will you please consider\u00a0sending a card or a quick note to Joey with get well wishes?\u00a0\u00a0Do you have children who enjoy drawing?\u00a0 Will you have them make Joey a card.\u00a0 Will you ask your family, friends, neighbors, churches, etc and collect the cards to mail for Joey?\u00a0 If you would like please include a 4 x 6 photo of yourself, family, and\/or children.\u00a0 We will be putting together a scrapbook for Joey so that he can look at the pictures of all the people are\u00a0thinking\u00a0and praying for him.\u00a0 On the back of your cards, please put\u00a0your\u00a0city\u00a0and state.\u00a0 If your children are drawing pictures\u00a0please put your children&#8217;s names\u00a0and ages too.<\/div>\n<div>Please consider this\u00a0request, it would mean alot\u00a0to my children, but it would mean the world to Joey and his family.\u00a0 Please mail your\u00a0cards, notes, postcards, drawings, pictures, etc to:<\/div>\n<div><strong>TEAM JOEY <\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>11715 Fox Road, STE 400-124<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Indianapolis, IN. 46236<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Would your kids be interested in making some art for a little boy who could use some smiles?\u00a0 Friends of seven year-old Joey are trying to get lots of cards and pictures for his hospital room.
