{"id":1202,"date":"2010-11-02T01:50:07","date_gmt":"2010-11-02T01:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1202"},"modified":"2010-11-02T01:50:07","modified_gmt":"2010-11-02T01:50:07","slug":"a-little-november-poem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/02\/a-little-november-poem\/","title":{"rendered":"A Little November Poem&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2593\/3936442626_f062f63321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>November <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The leaves are fading and falling, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The winds are rough and wild, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The birds have ceased their calling, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> But let me tell you, my child, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Though day by day, as it closes, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Doth darker and colder grow, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The roots of the bright red roses <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Will keep alive in the snow. <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> And when the Winter is over, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The boughs will get new leaves, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The quail come back to the clover, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> And the swallow back to the eaves. <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The robin will wear on his bosom <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> A vest that is bright and new, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> And the loveliest way-side blossom <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Will shine with the sun and dew. <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The leaves to-day are whirling, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The brooks are dry and dumb, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> But let me tell you, my darling, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> The Spring will be sure to come. <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> There must be rough, cold weather, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> And winds and rains so wild; <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Not all good things together <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Come to us here, my child. <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> So, when some dear joy loses <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Its beauteous summer glow, <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Think how the roots of the roses <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong> Are kept alive in the snow. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>&#8211;Alice Cary 1820-1871<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>November The leaves are fading and falling, The winds are rough and wild, The birds have ceased their calling, But let me tell you, my child, Though day by day, as it closes, Doth darker and colder grow, The roots of the bright red roses Will keep alive in the snow.
