{"id":1073,"date":"2010-09-06T14:14:24","date_gmt":"2010-09-06T14:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.wordpress.com\/?p=1073"},"modified":"2010-09-06T14:14:24","modified_gmt":"2010-09-06T14:14:24","slug":"10-ways-to-make-today-magical-63","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/magicalchildhood.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/06\/10-ways-to-make-today-magical-63\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Make Today Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><em>Happy Monday!\u00a0 We&#8217;re off to Duluth this week but before I go here&#8217;s a few ways to make some memories this week&#8230;.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>1.\u00a0 Buy some inexpensive wine glasses for the kids to use at dinner. <\/strong>We bought a four-pack of sturdy, inexpensive wine glasses just for the kids a year ago and it&#8217;s amazing how well they have lasted.\u00a0 It makes the kids feel so fancy at dinner time and they learn to be careful with the breakable glass.\u00a0 For toddlers, you can also check thrift stores for whimsical mugs or colorful plastic margarita glasses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\"><strong>2. Do a conga line to leave someplace fun. <\/strong> I learned this one from Magical Mama Tiffany when our kids didn&#8217;t want to leave the mall one day.\u00a0 She had them all line up and hold on to the waist of the person ahead of them and we did the conga all the way out.\u00a0 Chant conga, conga, con-GA! and kick to alternating sides on the last syllable.\u00a0 Three-year-old Alex even does a two-person conga line with me to go upstairs to bed.<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4128\/4963293217_2c23255d25_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#e91544;\"><strong>3.\u00a0\u00a0Host an old fashioned game like horseshoes or croquet on the front lawn<\/strong> and invite friends and neighbors to join in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#36bd19;\"><strong>4.\u00a0 Pick out some spring flower bulbs together <\/strong>and plant them to make a beautiful new scene come springtime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080;\"><strong>5. <\/strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4112\/4960612418_357a7dee87_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><strong>Make your own play dough together and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/green-culture-in-mankato\/make-your-own-play-dough-with-natural-dyes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dye it naturally<\/a>.<\/strong> Use beets, turmeric, coffee, crab apples, you name it.\u00a0 Hint: simmer lots of materials with not much water for the brightest colors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><strong>6.\u00a0 Share a cup of tea the English way. <\/strong> Brew some tea and add cream (we use vanilla almond milk) and sugar for a delicious sweet treat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#3366ff;\"><strong>7.\u00a0 Set up a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toadhaven.com\/Mall%20Logic%20Scavenger%20Hunt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mall logic scavenger hunt<\/a>. <\/strong> I love this amazing idea from Toad Haven!\u00a0 I&#8217;m afraid our version would not be nearly as elaborate but I&#8217;m so inspired and tickled at the idea.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>8.\u00a0 Take advantage of the surplus of tomatoes<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4088\/4960610394_0255a6a7bc_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/> and all the farmers&#8217; markets and make your own salsa together.<\/strong> We do this at least every week this time of year and love to experiment with our recipe (and to gobble it up!).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#d427d8;\"><strong>9.\u00a0 Take the kids to a thrift store and give them each a small amount of money for a &#8220;shopping spree.&#8221;<\/strong> Even three dollars can buy a ton of stuff at a thrift store!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>10. <\/strong> <strong>Invite some fun friends over for a casual dinner party. <\/strong> Let the kids set the table and make it fancy with centerpieces and such.\u00a0 Put out a spread and enjoy conversation, company, after-dinner games and (if your dinner parties are anything like ours) a lot of noise!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4106\/4963295537_ef608298db.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><em><strong>And with that, my dears, I&#8217;m off to run around frantically trying to finish packing and forget half of what we&#8217;ll need this week.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><span style=\"color:#ff00ff;\"><em><strong>Have a fabulous week!\u00a0 Kiss your kiddos, count your blessings and don&#8217;t forget to take care of you.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday!\u00a0 We&#8217;re off to Duluth this week but before I go here&#8217;s a few ways to make some memories this week&#8230;. 1.\u00a0 Buy some inexpensive wine glasses for the kids to use at dinner.
