This is a Home Where Children Live
You may not find things all in place,
Friend, when you enter here.
But, we’re a home where children live,
We hold them very dear.
And you may find small fingerprints
And smudges on the wall.
When the kids are gone, we’ll clean them up,
Right now we’re playing ball.
For there’s one thing of which we’re sure,
These children are on loan.
One day they’re always underfoot,
Next thing you know, they’re gone.
That’s when we’ll have a well kept house,
When they’re off on their own.
Right now, this is where children live,
A loved and lived in home.

This just about sums it up 🙂
Thanks. I needed to read that today <3
Thank you so much! That’s something I’ve been struggling with this week, the desire to have a room that’s kept straight and a 5-year-old that leaves glitter and paint everywhere. LOL I think I’ll make a wall hanging of this poem as a constant reminder to myself. 🙂
Love this! Such an important reminder that a spotless house shouldn’t be a priority with children. This is something I grapple with and this poem is a great boost.

Thank you.
This poem is why I come here. For a breath of magic and peace and love.
I think I’ll type this up in a nice font and frame it so I can hang it up! Thanks for posting that.
Just perfect! I think I need to hang this on my front door.
That’s right! We’ve made our home as accommodating to ALL members of the family, including our little two-year-old. If it so happens that he makes a mess as he’s learning, then so be it. There’s always another chance to clean up down the line.
This is a banner poem to let the kids decorate with painted little hands and feet. What a treasure! Thank you.
