Magical Mama Nancy shared this poem and I had to pass it on. It speaks to me! Anybody who’s seen my living room will understand why. 😉
DUST IF YOU MUST
(Author unknown)
Dust if you must but wouldn’t it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need.
Dust if you must but there’s not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must but the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Remember, a house becomes a home when
you can write “I love you” on the furniture….
Who’s up for making some more messes (and then cleaning them up together)? 🙂 Happy Wednesday!
I love this poem!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Great post! I am printing this out so that when I get into a cleaning fit, I remember what is really important. Your blog totally rocks!
My daughter is actually allergic to dust so we have to keep the house really clean, but I see your point! We make it fun though, cleaning can be fun too – not just a “chore” ! 🙂
Oh, in that case I’d dust lots too! Anna was diagnosed as highly allergic to dust when she was little (along with a host of other environmental allergies) but switching to an all natural diet pretty much eliminated her allergies. Jack was the same way (not with dust but lots of others — he was even allergic to grass!) but it worked for him too. He’s stuck with his peanut allergy, but I’m so thankful about the rest of them. Time has helped lots, too.
Yay for making cleaning fun! 🙂
PS I looked around your blog and see your little one is allergic to grass and lots of stuff too. Your blog looks like a fabulous resource and I’m off to look around some more.
Lovely — thanks for posting this!
that made me smile all the way through and then break out in to a full on grin at the end
thank you :~D
